Trade from Charts

You can trade directly from the portrait mode streaming charts when the Trade Buttons are enabled - see Chart Settings.

Place a Trade from the Chart

Complete the following instructions to place a trade from the chart:

  1. In the Trade Buttons panel at the bottom of the chart, tap the Quantity field and enter your trade size.
  2. Tap the [Buy] or [Sell] button for the trade direction you want to take.
  3. A trade ticket appears over the chart. You can at this time enter a take profit Limit order or a protective stop loss in the Limit and Stop fields as desired. Alternatively, you can attach these orders after your trade is placed (see Attach a Closing Order).
  4. You can see how much margin is required for the trade by tapping the [Calculate Margin] button. Tap [OK] to dismiss the Margin Calculator view.
  5. Check the trade details are correct and tap the [Trade] to submit the trade for processing.
  6. If it is successful, a trade confirmation message is shown over the chart. Tap [OK] to acknowledge the trade confirmation. If the trade request is not successful, the relevant error message is displayed explaining why the trade was not placed.

Place an Opening Order from the Chart

Complete the following instructions to place an order from the chart:

  1. In the Trade Buttons panel at the bottom of the chart, tap the Quantity field and enter your trade size.
  2. Tap the [Order] button to display the order ticket overlaid across the chart. the order size is already entered with the amount from step 1.
  3. Fill in the details of the entry order. When you are satisfied the details are correct, tap the [Place Order] button to submit the order to the system for processing.
  4. A confirmation message appears over the chart if successful. Tap [OK] to acknowledge and close the confirmation message. If the request is not successful, the relevant error message is displayed explaining why.

Viewing Open Positions on the Chart

You can enable the display of all your open positions in a market on its chart from the Chart Settings.

If your open positions are outside the currently viewed vertical scaling on the chart, then chart icons appear on the price axis at the top or bottom of the axis, indicating the number of open positions in that direction on the chart. Tap the icon to auto-scale the chart and see all the open positions. A [Reset] button appears in the middle of the price axis. Tap the [Reset] button and the chart returns to the previous scale.

Open positions on the chart are colour coded: red for sell positions and blue for buy positions. The trade size is indicated as well. As an example, a 1 quantity buy position looks like: .

Tap an open position to display a pop over window showing information about the open position including the current unrealised profit or loss. Controls are provided within the pop over to close the position or attach orders to the position.

Viewing Active Orders on the Chart

You can enable the display of all your active orders in a market on its chart from the Chart Settings.

If your active orders are outside the currently viewed vertical scaling on the chart, then chart icons appear on the price axis at the top or bottom of the axis, indicating the number of active orders in that direction on the chart. Tap the icon to auto-scale the chart and see all the active orders. A [Reset] button appears in the middle of the price axis. Tap the [Reset] button and the chart returns to the previous scale.

Active orders on the chart are colour coded: red for sell orders and blue for buy orders. The order size is indicated as well.

Tap an active order to display a pop over window showing information about the order. Controls are provided within the pop over to delete the order or amend the order details.
